Think you can write a children's book?
Meet authors, and support young readers

If you love children's books, consider dropping by the Leon County Library on Sunday afternoon.
You'll find a panel of children's writers and illustrators showcasing their latest work through short presentations, readings and more. They'll be ready to answer questions, offer tips and share handouts on their favorite Web sites and books. Kid-friendly refreshments will be served, too.
"We know there are other people out there who want to write for children, and we want them to know we're here," said Ann Morrow, a member of the Tallahassee area Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, which is hosting the event.
On Sunday, the group's members hope what they have to offer will interest not only other children's authors and illustrators, but teachers, children's librarians and kids, too.
"We're going to be doing presentations that children might enjoy," said member Jan Godown, whose most recent book, "Florida's Famous Animals" was just released under the pen name of J.G. Annino. "We want families to drop by."
The group is helping to kick off March's designation as National Reading Month, too, by asking folks to donate a new or used children's book. The books will be given to Tallahassee school children.*
"It's just a way of giving back to our community," Godown said.

*The Gadsden County Public Library will be happy to accept donations of children's books, too, to be given away to children in our area.
