Moving Update!

The movers have arrived and have begun boxing up the books! Shelving is being dismantled, and carted over to the new location.

However, we still have a long ways to go.

Keep checking back -- more news to come!

We're in the news!

Gadsden County Public Library's Quincy branch will be featured prominently on both WTXL 27 and WCTV 6 News tonight or tomorrow night (watch both nights to make sure) in a report on our move into our new building!

Also, check out today's Tallahassee Democrat's Gadsden County news section (page 4B) for two articles on the Library -- one on the Fish Fry to benefit the Havana Library; and one on our move:

Fish fry:
The Havana Volunteer Fire Department and Havana Kiwanis are having a fish fry to help support the Havana Public Library, 203 Fifth Ave. E., Havana. It's scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Havana Community Park, in front of the library. Cost: $7 for a full plate of fish and other goodies. St. Peter Primitive Baptist Church, 2611 Oakridge Road. 926-3201.

Library closing for move:
All patrons of the Gadsden County Public Library in Quincy, please note: The main library will close at the end of business Thursday and stay closed for more than a month - because it's moving. As of May 15 its home will be the new William A. "Bill" McGill Library, 732 Pat Thomas Parkway in Quincy. In the meantime, county libraries in Havana and Chattahoochee will remain open during their regular hours. The new library will reopen May 15. "When people see the new facility and all it has to offer, we trust that (they) will be as thrilled as we are about this transition," said Jane Mock, director of the library system since the late 1980s. County officials said a grand opening will take place in late May or early June. For more information call Jon Brown at (850) 627-6698.

WE HAVE A MOVING DATE

The main library of the GCPLS on E. Jefferson St. will be closed starting:

FRIDAY, APRIL 14 & 15 for the Easter weekend, and then continuing closed from Monday, April 17th

in preparation for our move to our brand new building at

732 Pat Thomas Parkway (highway 267) -- next to the Post Office.

We will be closed for as short a period of time as possible, however, we will let everyone know when we will be re-opening (hopefully around the second or third week of May)!

In the meantime, we ask that you please visit our branch locations in Havana and Chattahoochee for all your library book, movie and computer needs.

Keep checking back here for more information.

The question of the month: When are you moving in?

The answer: We will close Monday April 17, and begin packing up the old library.
We should (I repeat: should) be ready to re-open around May 8 in our new location.
